Becoming a Member of RTU

A union is only as strong, effective, and powerful as its members working collectively and participating in its operations. We are all volunteers who care deeply about our community, and everyone who contributes to building the union will benefit from its power and communally held resources.

Being a member means joining with us in building tenant power, contributing time and resources to your neighborhood. We need a range of skill sets and we all need each other– find out where you can pitch in by joining.

We invite you to join by filling out a membership form after attending a new member orientation. Membership is open to tenants in Ridgewood, Glendale, Maspeth, and Middle Village. We define a tenant as any person who does not own or control their own housing; this includes unhoused people. By becoming a member you are actively committing to building working class tenant power and contributing to the well-being of the tenant union.
